Selecting a Venue | Santa Clarita Wedding Tips

During this process of planning your perfect day, there are so many things that you need to consider. What kind of flowers are you going to get? Who do you want as your photographer? How about your efficient? Have you picked your bridal party out yet? The best advice anyone has ever given me was to take everything one step at a time. The first and foremost thing should and always will be, locking down your venue.  

Your venue is going to determine a lot of things about your wedding. The actual date that your wedding will be on (and by extension the availability of your vendors), whether or not you can bring in outside vendors, catering, cakes, DJs, etc. This can get pretty daunting especially for the DIY bride and the last thing that you want is to book a wedding at a place that you are not particularly fond of.

Find Out What is Important to You

How important is it to bring in your own vendors? What is your budget like? These are a few of the questions that you need to consider prior to booking your venue. Next on the list is what kind of wedding do you want? If there is a certain style or feel for your wedding that you are aiming to achieve, then you need to choose a venue to reflect that. Are you looking for a more casual wedding? Perhaps more of a formal one? If you are looking to have photos that give off more of a rustic feel, then you may want to rethink your wedding at the local hotel hotspot and start searching for beautiful woodsy scenic venues such as Calamigos Ranch or Walnut Grove. (Both of which are some of my FAVORITE places to shoot!)

Suit Your Personality

The next step I would suggest is to find a location that mirrors your personality! Your guests are a reflection of you and more than likely share common personality traits. If you are casual and laid back, select a scene that flows with your vibe. If you need everything to happen on time, choose a venue such as a hotel or resort that insures everything goes smoothly with a wedding planner.  

At the end of the day, the location that you choose to have your wedding becomes a thing of the past the day of. Your wedding day is about your vows, no matter where you do it. Although choosing your wedding venue can be a task, be sure not to lose focus of the real reason for your special day. :)
